Happy New Year!

Dear Parents,

Happy New Year! Peace Health and Happiness to you and your family
Thank you for remembering me in such a special way at Christmas time. A special thank you to Paul Kilpatrick, who gave me his orange vest so I can be seen when I direct traffic!!!!!Once again thank you for being so conscientious about the parking lot. Leaving the spaces in the front for pregnant moms, moms of multiples and moms of new babies helps them so much with drop off and pick up.

Please check our Lunch With Santa pictures on trinityhavertown.org
Click on pre school then on pictures. We had 7 great parties going on at the same time with 7 awesome Santas. They are great guys that gave up their day just to entertain our little children. Some children arrived with lists with words and then some with lots of pictures of things they wanted. Some Santas read stories , some Santas played games, some Santas danced and all the Santas listened carefully to everything the children had to say. Last year we had a sub Santa who attends this church and also is a professional. Our Santas might go professional next year after discovering all the money the pro makes from Thanksgiving to Christmas! Thank you to:Jill, Gina, Fern,Dawn and Erin for your great husbands, our own Mr. Joe, and Natalie and Jonathan ‘s Uncle Matt for an awesome Christmas Party!

5-day Pre-K Mrs. Degnan, Mrs. K and Ms. Moira

December flew by so quickly! The class enjoyed doing all the festive crafts of the season, from ginger bread men, to wreaths and candy canes! The boys and girls learned about Hanukkah and the Legend of the Poinsettia in Mexico. They also picked out special gifts they would buy, along with 3 hints of what it was. They even made Christmas cookies in class!

Lunch with Santa was a huge success. The boys and girls really enjoyed spending time with the jolly man in the red suit. They provided him with entertainment as well. We sang all our Christmas show songs and showed him how to put a puzzle together that looked like him!
The pizza and soft pretzels were a hit also.

The class brought in their favorite Christmas books to share with their classmates. Everyone enjoyed seeing each others books and hearing the stories. We continued to play our new stacking tower game. The children love playing this and it really helps them to learn strategies to winning! Ask your child to tell you about this game.

We hope you enjoyed your gifts your child made especially for you. We are sure they found a special place in your home over the Christmas season. The boys and girls were so proud over their singing accomplishments in the Christmas show. They really practiced a lot for your entertainment and they did a super job!

Happy New Year to all our families! We look forward to bringing in the new year with many happy and proud learning experiences for your child.

MMO…….Michelle,Pattie, Terri, Sheila, Erin, Adriana & Fern
The MMO faculty would like to wish all of you a Happy New Year! We welcome the children back and look forward to an enjoyable second half of the year.

In December we made marble painted candy canes, finger print gingerbread men puppets and the adorable picture wreath ornaments. We enjoyed the stories Merry Christmas Big Hungry Bear, Christmas Snow and The Gingerbread Man. We had fun clapping and marching to the song, “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” and counting Santa’s reindeer to the tune of “10 Little Indians.” We also enjoyed dancing and shaking bells to Rafi’s “Jingle Bells,” “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Frosty the Snowman.” The parties were wonderful as was lunch with Santa!

Thank you for the party treats and festive paper products. Also, thank you for sending in snack and helping cut out projects. Your contributions are greatly appreciated.

The themes for this month’s activities will be penguins and mittens. We’ll waddle around the classroom to songs about penguins and we’ll try to help some kittens find their mittens

3 day Pre k …………..Dawn Rocce & Gina Hatton

Winter has arrived! December has been a very busy month for our class!

This month we worked on the letters K and L. Everyone is doing a wonderful job with learning the sounds of these letters and words that begin with each one. Keep up the good work!

We worked really hard on the finishing touches for our Holiday Show. Didn’t we make adorable reindeer? I am so proud of the class for making the show such a success! It was nice to see everyone at the reception after the big show! I hope everyone had a great time! Thanks to all who brought in goodies!
This month we made some great Holiday decorations for the classroom. We each made our own stocking with our names outlined in glitter and puffy cotton balls on the top! Our marble painted candy canes looked good enough to eat! Our glittery snowflakes looked amazing hanging down in our classroom! Everyone did a wonderful job! We also took a day to relax with a Movie Day!

But the best day this month was our Lunch with Santa! The children were able to sit on Santa’s lap and tell him what we wanted for Christmas! He even let us ring his own personal Christmas bells! He only had one request of us all – to leave cookies and milk for him on Christmas Eve! It was really a fun day with all of our friends!

Happy Birthday wishes go out to Riona, John, Sarah and Juliana!

Special thanks to our Mystery Reader this month: Avery’s mom!

Here are a few things to keep in mind for January:

The Zipper Club will be creeping up on us! Children should be able to put on their own coats and be able to zipper them.

Happy Holidays to all! Enjoy the time with your families! As always, thanks for sharing your children with us!

4-Day Pre-K Class . . . . . . .. . . . Jeanne Riehs and Mary Jo Stolz

HJ! HJ! HJ! Where did December go? We began the month by learning the song and steps to The March Of The Wooden Soldiers. Then we made a special Christmas tree out of circles and bows for our back bulletin board.
We spent a lot of time preparing a special gift and card for our parents. We read many Christmas stories and sang many carols. We painted gingerbread people. We strung a stocking together with yarn, and Mrs. Riehs filled it with a candy cane. We also made large moveable Santas with google eyes and a beautiful Nativity scene showing a shepherd and a lamb with the baby Jesus.
With all of our Christmas preparations, we still had time to meet the letters, J, K, and L. We are becoming very good at identifying words that begin with the letters of the week.
Our Lunch With Santa was a happy time for all. We had pizza and soft pretzels. We colored a neat little Christmas book and played Christmas Bingo. Santa reminded us to be good and asked us each to tell him what was on our Christmas list. We entertained Santa with some songs from our Christmas program. He really liked The March of The Wooden Soldiers.
Our Christmas program was a big success! Hayley (Mary) and Matthew (Joseph) helped us think about the real meaning of Christmas during our Nativity action story. Molly and Meghan showed that packages Given With Love were the best. Our favorite song was Christmas Wish. With our tree and star, lights, and presents, we really made that song come to life.
We had a special visitor this month. Mrs. Riehs’ son, Scott, who is an actor from NYC came to talk to us about the movies and TV we watch. With Scott’s help we created a story and then acted it out. He taught us how to be expressive as an actor. Before Scott left he read us The Night Before Christmas. He promised to come back again in the Spring. We can’t wait!
We extend a note of appreciation to our terrific parents who during this busy season found time to help with our December cuttings, and provide delicious refreshments and favors for our Christmas party.
Happy 5th Birthday to Will K, Carter, Xander, Matthew, and Eian !
Happy New Year 2011 to Everyone! Now, “Let it Snow” !!!

2 Day Nursery and Friday……Mrs. B and Miss Moira

December was a busy month!! We marble painted Candy Canes with Jingle Bells which we used for our poem “Way up High”! The children also laced their own stockings and practicing writing their names on the stockings which we hung by the fire with care! And we used our scissor cutting skills to cut out Santa’s beard! The children did a great job! For the Triangle shape we made and decorated our own tree by measuring Biggest to smallest and counted to 4. We all wrote letters for Santa and put them by our tree in the hallway along with cookies we decorated with pretend icing for him!! I Hope Santa saw them!!! We also have been working on our number recognition by counting candy canes. We practiced patterns by using Christmas light to go with our song “Lights on the Tree”. And working hard on our tracing by tracing Christmas tree ornaments which hung from our ceiling!
The children made Reindeer food for Santa’s reindeer! I hope Santa’s reindeer were hungry! And Friday class made apple cinnamon ornaments by mixing and measuring ingredients then rolling and cutting our little gingerbread men. Our class smelt delicious!
We also worked on a special gift for our family! I hope you all enjoyed the special ornament the children made!!
They did a wonderful job at the Christmas show! We are all so proud of all of the children!!! And thank you to all of you who came and helped with our celebration after our concert! We are so fortunate to have such wonderful children and parents in our class!
Happy Birthday goes out to Seamus and Jack Br!!
We are looking forward to another busy month in January exploring and discovering our world around us!! I want to wish all of you a Happy and Healthy New Year in 2011!!!

3 Day Pre-K Mrs. Tustin and Mrs. Gross

It’s hard to believe December came and went so quickly. It seems as if it had just started when we were in the church performing our Christmas Show. The month started out with our learning all about the letters Kk, Li and Mm. We celebrated Mm week with a movie day featuring an Alvin and the Chipmunks cartoon movie on the big screen in the Little Chapel. With the lights turned out, shoes off, pillows under our heads and blankets wrapped around us, we enjoyed watching the movie and eating some delicious air popped popcorn and “movie” type candy. We also reviewed our colors, numbers and shapes. We made many wonderful Christmas crafts, including beautiful wreaths using the shape of our hands (thanks parents, for cutting all of those hands out), reindeer food, stockings to hang by the fireplace (wonderfully made by Mrs. Gross and her “brick-painting” helpers – and Mr. Joe and his real mantle!) and painted candy canes. Our Lunch with Santa was soooooo much fun! We had pizza, juice and soft pretzels – but the best part was the visit from St. Nick. Everyone at lunch had the chance to sit on Santa’s lap, tell him what they wanted for Christmas and even get their picture taken with Santa. We sang songs for Santa and colored pictures for him. And everyone either gave him a list of what they’d like for Christmas. What an awesome afternoon! The children worked very hard on beautiful gifts for their parents – but, don’t peek – they are a surprise for Christmas Day! The boys and girls also worked very hard to learn all of the songs and poems for our Christmas Show. They all did a fantastic job in the show and then we had a great party to start our Christmas vacation. Thank you to all of the parents who sent in the treats, drinks and paper products for our celebration and for our movie day. We look forward to 2011 and all of the wonderful things we will be doing in the New Year! We wish you and your families a Blessed Christmas and a Happy, Healthy New Year! Thanks to our mystery reader this month – Mrs. Fiorentino Wong. See you in 2011!!

3 day Nursery ….Miss Val and Miss Linda

What do you have when children are knee deep in paint with a messy classroom floor, frilly curtains, gum drops, frosting ,candy canes and, peppermint candies? You have a beautiful gingerbread house as a backdrop for our Christmas Show. The children wore chef’s hats, aprons, and held bowls and wooden spoons as they belted out some serious Christmas songs. Santa surprised us by knocking at our window.. He couldn’t find a chimney so he asked us to open the door. He arrived with bells and candy canes for our class right after our pizza lunch.. He listened “Carefully” to everybody. Some kids sat on his lap, others just handed over their pictograph lists. The children sang their songs for him and Santa even read them a book!
Christmas in preschool is fun in December
