Dear Parents,
Thank you for remembering me at Christmas time with such lovely presents.
BEST LUNCH WITH SANTA EVER!
Please check the pictures on our web page.
Seven Santas gathered together to plan their strategies for the event. I was sent out for bells and eye glasses.
Two Santas bought new suits. Then one announced that he had two gigs this year outside of our event! You should have seen their faces!..It was priceless! He even brought a picture to verify it.
These guys have been entertaining our children for years now. One has been here for 13 years! All of them are husbands of our teachers except for our Mr. Joe, who keeps our building in tip top shape.
What a great group of guys! They sit patiently going through picture lists , listening intently. The children really feel special.
I told them, when they were all in costume ,that they really looked like Old Saint Nick. . One Santa said, “ It’s not the suit that makes the Santa, Marian”. And he was absolutely right!
NOW’S THE TIME TO GET RID OF UNWANTED CHILDREN’S TOYS…….WE’LL TAKE THEM FOR OUR TOY SALE

5-day Transition Pre-K Mrs. Degnan, Mrs. K and Ms. Moira
December was a busy time for fun crafts of the season, from wreaths to candy canes our class Decked the Halls with much Jolly! The class learned about the Legend of the Poinsettia in Mexico and how it turned from a white weed to a beautiful red plant! They also picked out special gifts for a loved one and provided 3 hints of what it was. It was fun for them to shop the catalogs looking for that special gift. Then we made Christmas cookies to top off our season of festivities. The class had fun decorating their own cookie too.
Lunch with Santa was a huge success. The boys and girls really enjoyed spending time with the jolly man in the red suit. They provided him with entertainment as well. We sang all our Christmas show songs and shared our list of gifts we want this year. Santa read a story to the class before he left for the North Pole. The pizza and soft pretzels were a hit also. Santa left us all a candy cane as a special reminder of how special we are.
The class brought in their favorite Christmas books to share with their classmates. Everyone enjoyed sharing other books and hearing the stories. Mrs. Degnan even brought in her favorite book, Eloise At Christmas Time.
We hope you enjoyed your special gift your child made especially for you. We are sure it found a special place on your Christmas tree this year. The boys and girls were so proud of their singing accomplishments in the Christmas show. They practiced alot for your entertainment and enjoyment and did a super job of achieving their goal!!!
Thank you to Matthew Casadei for teaching us a new game called Wonder Ball. The class loves playing this at the end of the day.
Letters and numbers are coming along beautifully. We will begin learning word wall words and writing them! They are ready for the challenge!
Don’t forget Zipper Day is coming soon….that means that you not only can put your own coat on, but you can also zipper it independently!
Happy New Year to all our families! We look forward to bringing in the new year with many happy and proud learning experiences for your child.
Kindergarten Enrichment. …. ……Jeanne Riehs
Our Kindergarten newsletter actually begins at the end of November when Mrs. Riehs’ son, Scott, an actor and filmmaker from New York City came to visit us for the afternoon. Scott helped us create a story and filmed it. We came up with the idea of Santa’s elves making toys somewhere near the North Pole. To find out what happened and how Christmas Magic saved the day tune into our video on Trinity’s website.
The month of December passed very quickly as we read stories, completed word and number puzzles on Christmas themes, and painted a Christmas magnet. We also made a beautiful sparkly Christmas tree and painted a Nativity scene with water colors. We learned how to draw a candy cane, and made a special snowman card. In our copybook we practiced writing the words: Santa, tree, bells, and Ho Ho Ho.
We covered the letters J, K, and L and continued to practice simple additions. We also explored number patterns and formulated some of our own. We continued working on our letter sounds by listening to our letter songs and completing several alphabet puzzles.
On our USA map, we continued to move west across Wisconsin, Minnesota, North and South Dakota.
We were all happy to be invited to Lunch with Santa. We enjoyed eating pizza, coloring a Christmas book, playing Christmas bingo, watching Mrs. Riehs’ morning class perform, and of course talking to Santa.
For our Holiday party, we baked Christmas cookies, in the shapes of: trees, stockings, snowmen and stars, completed a Christmas Word Search, listened to Christmas music, and played a great Christmas card game.
Happy New Year, 2011, everyone!
4-Day Pre-K Class . . . . . . . .. . . . . Jeanne Riehs and Mary Jo Stolz
HJ! HJ! HJ! Where did December go? We began the month by learning the song and steps to The March Of The Wooden Soldiers. Then we made a special Christmas tree out of circles and bows for our back bulletin board.
We spent a lot of time preparing a special gift and card for our parents. We read many Christmas stories and sang many carols. We painted gingerbread people. We strung a stocking together with yarn, and Mrs. Riehs filled it with a candy cane. We also made large moveable Santas and a beautiful Nativity scene showing a shepherd and a lamb with the baby Jesus.
With all of our Christmas preparations, we still had time to meet the letters K, and L. We are becoming very good at identifying words that begin with the letters of the week.
Our Lunch With Santa was a happy time for all. We had pizza and soft pretzels. We colored a neat little Christmas book and played Christmas Bingo. Santa reminded us to be good and asked us each to tell him what was on our Christmas list. We entertained Santa with some songs from our Christmas program. He really liked The March of The Wooden Soldiers.
Our Christmas program was a big success! Charlotte (Mary) and Sean L. (Joseph) helped us think about the real meaning of Christmas during our Nativity action story. Mary Kate showed that packages Given With Love were the best. Our favorite song was Christmas Wish. With our tree and star, lights, and presents, we really made that song come to life.
We had a special visitor at the beginning of this month. Mrs. Riehs’ son, Scott, who is an actor and film maker from NYC came to talk to us about the movies and TV we watch. With Scott’s help, we created a story and then acted it out. He taught us how to be expressive as an actor. Before Scott left he read us a Christmas story and taught us a Christmas song that he composed himself. The chorus goes like this: ̅Candy canes and gingerbread, snowflakes falling on our head. Soon it will be time for bed. Because tomorrow‘s Christmas day.̅ Ask us to sing it.
We extend a note of appreciation to our terrific parents who during this busy season found time to help with our December cuttings, and provide delicious refreshments and favors for our Christmas party.
Happy 5th Birthday to Jack Brawley!
Happy New Year 2012 to Everyone! Now, “Let it Snow”!!!
3 Day Pre-K Mrs. Tustin and Mrs. Gross
It’s hard to believe December came and went so quickly. It seems as if it had just started when we were in the church performing our Christmas Show. The month started out with our learning all about the letters Kk, Li and Mm. We celebrated Mm week with a movie day featuring Mickey Mouse and his friends. We enjoyed hot (well, really warm) chocolate and delicious sugar cookies. We made many wonderful Christmas crafts, including beautiful wreaths using the shape of our hands (thanks parents, for cutting all of those hands out), reindeer food, stockings to hang by the fireplace (wonderfully made by Mrs. Gross and her “brick-painting” helpers – and Mr. Joe and his real mantle!) and painted candy canes. Our Lunch with Santa was soooooo much fun! We had pizza, juice and soft pretzels – but the best part was the visit from St. Nick. Everyone at lunch had the chance to sit on Santa’s lap, tell him what they wanted for Christmas and even get their picture taken with Santa. We sang songs for Santa and colored pictures for him. And everyone gave him a list of what they’d like for Christmas. What an awesome afternoon! The children worked very hard on beautiful gifts for their parents – but, don’t peek – they are a surprise for Christmas Day! The boys and girls also worked very hard to learn all of the songs and poems for our Christmas Show. They all did a fantastic job in the show and then we had a great party to start our Christmas vacation. Thank you to all of the parents who sent in the treats, drinks and paper products for our celebration. We look forward to 2012 and all of the wonderful things we will be doing in the New Year! We wish you and your families a Blessed Christmas and a Happy, Healthy New Year! Thanks to our mystery reader this month – Mr. McCormick. Happy 5th Birthday to Amelia – whose special day is Dec. 25th – we will celebrate the first week in January!
See you in 2012!!
2 Day Nursery and Friday……Mrs. B and Miss Moira
December was a busy month!! The children laced their own stockings and practicing writing their names on the stockings which we hung by the fire with care! And we used our scissor cutting skills to cut out Santa’s beard! The children did a great job! For the Triangle shape we made and decorated our own tree by measuring Biggest to smallest and counted to 4. We all wrote letters for Santa and put them by our tree in the hallway. I Hope Santa saw them!!! We also have been working on our number recognition by counting candy canes. We practiced patterns by using Christmas light to go with our song “Lights on the Tree”. And working hard on our tracing by tracing Christmas tree ornaments which hung from our ceiling! The children made Reindeer food for Santa’s reindeer! I hope Santa’s reindeer were hungry! We also took a trip on the Polar Express and enjoyed nice warm Coco! Friday class made apple cinnamon ornaments by mixing and measuring ingredients then rolling and cutting our little gingerbread men. Our class smelt delicious!
We also worked on a special gift for our family! I hope you all enjoyed the special ornament the children made!!
They did a wonderful job at the Christmas show! We are all so proud of all of the children!!! And thank you to all of you who came and helped with our celebration after our concert! We are so fortunate to have such wonderful children and parents in our class!
Happy Birthday goes out to Seamus F, Katie, Nicholas and Charlie!!
We are looking forward to another busy month in January exploring and discovering our world around us!! I want to wish all of you a Happy and Healthy New Year in 2012!!!
MMO………Michelle, Terri, Patty, Erin, Fern, Kate, and Adriana
The MMO faculty would like to wish all of you a Happy New Year! We welcome the children back and look forward to an enjoyable second half of the year.
In December we made marble painted candy canes, finger print gingerbread men puppets and the adorable picture wreath ornaments. We enjoyed the stories Merry Christmas Big Hungry Bear, Cllifford’s First Christmas and The Gingerbread Man. We had fun clapping and marching to the song, “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” and counting Santa’s reindeer to the tune of “10 Little Indians.” We also enjoyed dancing and shaking bells to Rafi’s “Jingle Bells,” ”Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Frosty the Snowman.” The parties were wonderful as was lunch with Santa!
Thank you for the party treats, festive paper products and wonderful take-home favors. Also, thank you for sending in snack and helping cut out projects. Your contributions are greatly appreciated.
The themes for this month’s activities will be penguins and mittens. We’ll waddle around the classroom to songs about penguins and we’ll try to help some kittens find their mittens.
3 day pre k ……………..Mrs. Rocci & Mrs. Hatton
Winter has arrived! December has been a very busy month for our class!
This month we worked on the letters K and L. Everyone is doing a wonderful job with learning the sounds of these letters and words that begin with each one. Keep up the good work!
We worked really hard on the finishing touches for our Holiday Show. Didn’t we make adorable reindeer? I am so proud of the class for making the show such a success! It was nice to see everyone at the reception after the big show! I hope everyone had a great time! Thanks to all who brought in goodies!
This month we made some great Holiday decorations for the classroom. We each made our own stocking with our names outlined in glitter and puffy cotton balls on the top! Our marble painted candy canes looked good enough to eat! Our glittery snowflakes looked amazing hanging down in our classroom! Everyone did a wonderful job!
But the best day this month was our Lunch with Santa! The children were able to sit on Santa’s lap and tell him what we wanted for Christmas! He even let us ring his own personal Christmas bells! He only had one request of us all – to leave cookies and milk for him on Christmas Eve! It was really a fun day with all of our friends!
Happy Birthday wishes go out to Alexis!
Here are a few things to keep in mind for January:
The Zipper Club will be creeping up on us! Children should be able to put on their own coats and be able to zipper them.
Happy Holidays to all! Enjoy the time with your families! As always, thanks for sharing your children with us!
